Vladimir Kudryavtsev
In 1976 finished oceanology department at the Leningrad Hydrometeorological Institute (M.S. degree in Oceanology).
In 1981 upheld PH.D thesis on Physics of Sea at Marine Hydrophysical Institute in Sebastopol.
In 1991 made Senior Doctorate degree in Geophysics (Physics of Sea) at Marine Hydrophysical Institute, Sebastopol.
Work experience
From 1979 – senior researcher at Marine Hydrophysical Institute in Sebastopol.
From 1986 – Head of Remote Sensing Department at Marine Hydrophysical Institute.
From 2002 till present – Senior Position II in Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center in Bergen, Norway and Professor at Russian State Hydrometeorological University in St. Petersburg.
From 2005 till present – Leading Scientist at Marine Hydrophysical Institute and Research Director at Nansen International Environmental and Remote Sensing Center in St. Petersburg.
From 2011 till present – Executive Director of Satellite Oceanography Laboratory at Russian State Hydrometeorological University in St. Petersburg.
Scientific interests:
(i) main field: wind waves and air-sea interaction, remote sensing.
(ii) other fields: radar scattering, experimental and satellite oceanography.
(iii) current research activities:
- Air-sea interaction at high wind conditions, wind waves;
- Radar and optical imaging of ocean phenomena (surface currents, fronts, waves, oil spills);
- Small-scale wind waves and exchange processes at the sea;
- Wind driven current and turbulence in the upper layer.
